Post Continues to Strengthen Filipino Community Ties Through Engagements

April 2026 – Despite the busy celebration of the Filipino Food Month (FFM) and heavy promotion for the 5th Filipino Restaurant Month in Canada (FRMC 2026), the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary continued to strengthen its connection with the Filipino Community through various engagements.

On 18 April, Consul General Emma Sarne attended the Philippine Business Society of Alberta’s General Assembly (PBSA-GA) as a guest speaker where she expressed her hope for them “to continue to strengthening the local economy in Alberta while maintaining vital links to the Philippine economy through trade, innovation, and the global exchange of ideas.”

In the morning of 19 April, Consul General Sarne attended the formal inauguration of three (3) Knights of Rizal (KOR) Chapters in the Edmonton area – Edmonton Chapter, Edmonton North Chapter, and Edmonton South Chapter, which shall serve as the foundation for the KOR’s expansion in Northern Alberta.

Before the day ended, she attended the Calgary Kids Fashion Week in Calgary (CKFW) Season 12, where young talents—including winners of the Sew + Style: Fashion Challenge—showcased their creativity, reinforcing the importance of cultural pride and youth empowerment.

Among the events attended by Consul General Emma Sarne during the Consular Outreach Mission to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was the oath-taking ceremonies for the newly inducted officers and board members of Buklod Bislig Canada, a council of Filipino organizations in Saskatchewan, and the Bridging Filipino Advocacy Corp (BFAC) on 24 April 2026.

The ceremonies marked a renewed commitment of both organizations in fostering the Filipino community in the province. Following the ceremonies, Consul General Sarne, together with her team, shared information on the services provided by Post whether in Calgary or during Consular Outreach Missions.

On 25 April 2026, Asian Heritage Month was celebrated, in advance, through Treasures of Asia which was organized by the Asian Heritage Foundation. The event was attended by Deputy Consul General Victorio Mario Dimagiba, Jr. witnessing performances from the Pan-Asian diaspora honoring the diversity of Asian diversity and heritage.

The events provided opportunities to connect with Filipino Community leaders and organizations while promoting unity and cultural appreciation. END
