The Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Calgary is pleased to announce to the public that nominations are now open for the 2026 Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas (PAFIOO), organized by the Commission on Filipinos Overseas.
The PAFIOO is a biennial search to honor and recognize overseas Filipinos and other individuals or organizations that contribute to Philippine development initiatives or promote the cause and interest of the Filipino diaspora/overseas Filipino communities.
The awards are also given to overseas Filipinos who have exceptionally distinguished themselves in their work or profession, and have thereby brought pride to the Filipino nation. A distinct category in the awards is also reserved for foreign individuals or organizations for their exceptional contribution to the Philippines and for advancing the cause of overseas Filipino communities.
Since its establishment in 1991, the awards have already been bestowed upon 555 individuals and organizations overseas based in 55 countries and territories by the Presidents of the Republic of the Philippines.
Five (5) of these awardees are from Alberta who were all recognized in 2020 and awarded in 2022.
The PAFIOO has four (4) award categories as follows:
1. ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด๐ธ๐ผ๐ฑ ๐๐ฎ ๐๐ฎ๐ฝ๐๐ฎ ๐ฃ๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐ฝ๐ถ๐ป๐ผ (๐๐๐ก๐๐๐ฃ๐๐) ๐๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฑ โ conferred on overseas Filipino individuals or organizations for their significant contributions to the development of a particular sector/local community in the Philippines.
2. ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ด ๐๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฑ โ conferred on overseas Filipino individuals or organizations for their significant contributions in the host country that have benefited and advanced the cause and interest of the Filipino diaspora/overseas Filipino community.
3. ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ ๐ป๐ด ๐ฃ๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐ฝ๐ถ๐ป๐ผ ๐๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฑ โ conferred on overseas Filipino individuals who, in exemplifying the talent and industry of the Filipino, have brought the country honor and recognition through excellence and distinction in the pursuit of their work or profession.
4. ๐๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ป๐ถ๐ฏ ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฑ โ conferred only for foreign individuals (natural-born) or foreign organizations for their significant contributions to Philippine development or a particular sector/local community in the country and for advancing the cause of the Filipino diaspora/overseas Filipino community.
All nominations from Alberta and Saskatchewan shall be coursed through the PCG for review and endorsement.
