The Philippine Consulate General in Calgary is committed to delivering programs and services that:

• respect the dignity and human rights of every person; 
• promote substantive equality and equal access to opportunities; 
• protect women and vulnerable persons from violence, exploitation, trafficking, harassment and discrimination; 
• recognize the diverse circumstances of migrant women, workers, youth, older persons, Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities and members of other underserved communities; 
• encourage the meaningful participation and leadership of women in the Filipino community; 
• use gender-fair, respectful, age-appropriate, disability-inclusive and culturally sensitive language and communication; 
• collect and use sex- and age-disaggregated information responsibly to improve programs and frontline services; and 
• comply with applicable privacy and data-protection requirements.

The Magna Carta of Women directs government institutions to adopt gender mainstreaming, establish or strengthen GAD focal-point mechanisms, implement GAD planning and budgeting, and generate gender statistics and sex-disaggregated data for evidence-based policy and programming.

1. Gender-Responsive Consular Services

PCG Calgary works toward ensuring that consular services are accessible, respectful and responsive to the different circumstances of Overseas Filipino (OF) women, men, children, older persons, persons with disabilities, solo parents, migrant workers and other clients requiring additional assistance.

Whenever appropriate, PCG Calgary shall identify and address barriers that may prevent clients from accessing consular information and services, such as organizing consular outreach missions.

2. Protection and Assistance to Nationals

PCG Calgary provides appropriate consular assistance and referrals to Filipino nationals experiencing emergency or crisis situations requiring protection and referral. 

PCG Calgary notes that ATN services do not replace medical emergency services, police intervention, or independent legal advice. If you are in danger, please call 911.

3. Women’s Economic Empowerment

PCG Calgary supports initiatives that increase women’s access to:

• entrepreneurship and business networks; 
• financial literacy; 
• livelihood and skills development; 
• trade and investment opportunities; 
• professional mentoring; 
• leadership development; and 
• community and institutional decision-making. 

4. Inclusive Cultural and Public Diplomacy

PCG Calgary promotes the visibility, achievements and contributions of Overseas Filipino women and gender-equality advocates in education, arts, culture, public service, science, community development and other fields.

PCG Calgary shall endeavor to ensure balanced and diverse representation among speakers, performers, partners and participants in its programs.

5. Partnerships and Community Engagement

PCG Calgary works with Filipino community organizations, government agencies, academic institutions, shelters, service providers, legal professionals, and civil-society organizations to promote gender equality and support persons experiencing violence, abuse or exploitation.

6. Gender-Fair Communication

PCG Calgary encourages the use of language and images that:

• avoid stereotypes and discriminatory expressions; 
• recognize people’s dignity and agency; 
• represent women and diverse communities fairly; 
• avoid portraying women solely as victims or dependents; and 
• acknowledge women’s leadership, achievements and contributions. 

The Philippine Commission on Women’s GAD Corner guidelines emphasize gender-fair language, diverse representation, non-derogatory portrayals of women, privacy protection and disability-inclusive, culturally sensitive communication.
