“I am visiting Calgary this week together with my ASEAN Committee in Ottawa colleagues as official guests of the Province of Alberta. As I attended the Calgary Stampede Rodeo yesterday, I was reminded of our own rodeo culture in Masbate, where generations of Filipinos have also gathered to honor our ranching heritage and the spirit of the Filipino cowboy and cowgirl. The Philippines and Canada may be oceans apart, but we share traditions that celebrate community, skill, courage, and pride. We hope to explore ways to connect these shared traditions, including with Masbate’s own rodeo community, as part of the strong people-to-people ties that continue to bring Filipinos and Canadians closer.”- Philippine Ambassador to Canada Jose Victor Chan-Gonzaga
