Calgary PCG and PCCF partners to Promote Filipino Language and Culture in Calgary, AB

03 September 2026 – The Philippine Consulate General in Calgary (PCG Calgary) and the Philippine Cultural Center Foundation (PCCF) formalized their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote greater appreciation of Filipino language and culture in Calgary.

Consul General Emma Sarne and PCCF President Clemente Tigley signed the MOU in a simple ceremony at the Consulate on 3 September 2026.

The partnership covers two (2) collaborative projects. The first was the Balagtasan, Atbp. held on 26 August 2026 in commemoration of the Buwan Ng Wikang Pambansa.

The second initiative is a free monthly Filipino language class for children and adults, to be held once a month on Sundays from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Consulate beginning in October 2026. The class welcomes everyone, children and adults from the wider community, who wish to learn the Filipino language and deepen their appreciation of Philippine culture. Registration details and the class schedule will be announced soon on the Consulate’s social media pages.

This partnership reflects the shared commitment of Calgary PCG and the PCCF in providing opportunities for the wider community to engage with and celebrate Filipino culture. END
