Travel Document
In case of emergency travel to the Philippines, a Filipino national may apply for a Travel Document (TD) to be used for one-way direct travel to the Philippines which has a validity of 30 days from the date of issue.
A travel document may only be issued to a Filipino citizen who has lost his or her passport and needs to travel to the Philippines due to any of the following emergencies:
- Medical emergency requiring travel to the Philippines.
- Death of an immediate family member (e.g. spouse, child, parents, or siblings only)
- Medical emergency or serious illness of an immediate family member (e.g. spouse, child, parents, or siblings only)
If the Filipino citizen has lost his/her passport, or the passport has already expired or is returning to the Philippines due to the death or serious illness of an immediate member of the family (spouse, children, parents and siblings ONLY) a travel document may be applied. It should not be used for convenience in order to avoid going through the passport renewal process.
Requirements for Travel Document
- Duly-accomplished Application Form;
- Three (3) recent passport-size photos (3.5cm x 4.5cm) colored with white background;
- Copy of data page of Philippine passport. For lost passports, copy of Philippine passport, if available, with duly filled-out Affidavit of Explanation on the loss of Passport or other documents showing Philippine citizenship;
- Copy of travel itinerary or airline tickets (no layovers, no connecting flights from Canada to Philippines);
- Copy of immigration status in Canada (e.g. PR card, work permit, study permit, tourist visa or visitor record);
- If applicable, copy of deportation/ removal order;
- Proof of urgency of travel (ex., Death Certificate, Medical Certificate, etc. of relatives in the Philippines).
- Payment of CAD$46.50.
Fees and Payment
Payments can be made in Canadian Dollars either in cash, bank draft, postal money order, debit or credit card; a 2.4% convenience fee will be applied to the amount for credit card payments only. Western Union and personal cheques are NOT accepted. For ease of transaction, it is recommended that payments be made via debit card or credit card.
For payments made by bank draft or postal money order, these should be made payable to the PHILIPPINE CONSULATE GENERAL CALGARY; please use exact wording on the bank draft or postal money order.
NOTE: Processed payments are non-refundable.
Procedure for Application
- Completed applications can be submitted in-person at the Philippine Consulate General. No need to book an appointment. OR;
- Applications can also be submitted by mail. A self addressed unused prepaid return envelope should also be provided for the mailing of the Travel Document.
Processing Time
Standard processing time for a travel document is 2-3 business days upon receipt of complete documents.
