Regina, Saskatchewan
Pepito Escanlar, Consul a.h.
2022 to Present
Originally from Guimbal, Iloilo, Pepito Garingalao Escanlar immigrated to Canada in 1975 after earning his degree in Architecture from the University of Santo Tomas. Over the course of a 41-year career in architecture, he balanced his professional work with a deep passion for painting and a steadfast commitment to community service. His leadership was exemplified during his tenure as president of the Philippine Association of Saskatchewan.
Following his retirement in 2016, Mr. Escanlar devoted himself more fully to his work as a visual artist. His paintings, which often reflect Filipino heritage and culture, have been exhibited at the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa (2019) and the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary (2022).
In April 2022, he was sworn in as the Philippine Honorary Consul for Saskatchewan by Ambassador Rodolfo D. Robles at a ceremony held at the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa. In this role, Mr. Escanlar works with the Philippine Consulate General Calgary to provide government services to Philippine citizens, and help build the social and economic relationship between the Philippines and Saskatchewan.
