Grant Application Briefer Empowers Filipino and Filipino-Canadian Community Organizations in Commemoration of National Arts Month

21 February 2026 – In celebration of National Arts Month, the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary, in partnership with Hinotori Consulting Solutions, conducted a “Grant Application Briefer” for the arts to support Filipino and Filipino-Canadian community organizations across Alberta in strengthening their capacity to access provincial funding in support of their cultural and community initiatives and projects. The briefing was conducted by Ms. Glorife Cocjin, President and Founder of Hinotori Consulting Solutions.

The session provided participants with an overview on how to apply for grants whether through the province of Alberta or the federal government. In her remarks, Consul General Sarne stated that “the Consulate’s goal is to equip the organizations with practical tools and strategic insight for preparing a strong and competitive grant application and increasing their group’s success in securing funding”.

Designed to empower Filipino and Filipino-Canadian community leaders, the session sought to ensure that the organizations are positioned to access financial support that advances their initiatives and strengthens community impact. The Alberta Foundation for the Arts, for example, offers funding for not-for-profit community organizations that provide arts programs and services, and a number of Filipino Community Organizations in Alberta and Saskatchewan undertake these programs to showcase Filipino artistry and culture. The briefer offered the organizations practical advice to accomplish their application and increase their chances for funding approval.

Due to overwhelming requests and recognizing the challenges posed by the winter travel conditions, the session was live-streamed on Post’s Facebook page in order to reach those who are far from the Consulate.

Post reaffirms its continued commitment to empowering Filipino community organizations and providing information that will support their initiatives enabling them to contribute to the vibrant cultural and economic landscape of the Filipino community in Alberta.
