Bakunawa Film Festival XI Watch Party

The DOST-University of Alberta Student Scholars Association (DUASSA) invites the UAlberta community to a free watch party for the Bakunawa Film Festival XI on October 29, 2025 (6:00 PM-8:30 PM) at M-145, Biological Sciences Building.

The Bakunawa Film Festival is an initiative of the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary and Sentro Rizal Calgary, featuring a curated selection of short films from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Sentro Rizal Film Club. The festival celebrates Filipino imagination, folklore, and Indigenous heritage through six short films by emerging Filipino filmmakers.

This event aims to promote cultural appreciation and dialogue within the university by showcasing creative interpretations of myths and Indigenous narratives that shape Filipino identity. The 2-to-2.5-hour program will include a short introduction about the festival, collective viewing, and an optional reflection session.

Admission is free but seats are limited — first come, first served. Open to all UofA students, staff and faculty.
